Energy Code Compliance Professionals.
Green Science believes in better building practices that follow current energy codes. We also believe that better building practices produce better building performance. In turn, better building performance reduces energy and long-term maintenance costs, thus maximizing the owner’s investment.
Pre Construction Meetings Prior to beginning construction, meetings may be held with owners, architects, etc., to discuss expectations and energy code compliance requirements for the project. The Green Science Team will work closely with the building owner’s planning/design professionals to help projects meet their schedule and budget goals, which results in saving money in lower operating costs over the lifetime of the building. Commercial ComCheck reports can be prepared and provided if requested.
Construction Site Visits Visits will be made to the construction site to observe rough-in work/installations and building envelope specs. Data is collected from contractors, manufacturers, or via photos of the building’s installed systems at the time of the visit.
Commercial Inspections/Testing During inspections, technicians can determine whether plan specs are being followed and that any substitutions meet the intent/specs of the finalized plans, as well as energy code requirements.
Prior to sheetrock installation, inspections of the building’s envelope assembly are completed with emphasis on:
- Exterior Wall R-Values
- Air Barriers
- Rooftop Doors
- Window Fenestration
- Garage Door Bay Seals
- Plumbing Piping Insulation
- HVAC & Ventilation System Sealing
- Plumbing/Electrical Penetrations
- Hot Water Systems & Distribution
- Foundation/Top Plates Assemblies
- Ceiling Penetrations
- Interior Wall Assemblies
- Doors/Window Sealing
At the completion of the project, a final return visit will be made to inspect and test the following areas of the project:
- Commercial Blower Door Test (if required)
- Commercial Test & Balance Verification (if required)
- Commercial Restroom Exhaust & Other Required Ventilation Inspection & Testing
- Inspection of lighting Fixtures, Controls & Sensors
- Lux/FC Lighting Testing
